Built by riders
Every road in Rippin' was added by a rider.
Riders draw the roads they love. A real person on our team checks every one before it goes on the map, and it goes live with the rider's name on it. The stars come from riders who've actually ridden it.
01 How a road gets in
Draw it. We check it. It's yours.
There's no list of roads we bought or pulled from somewhere else. If a road is in Rippin', a rider put it there.
-
Draw the road
In Segments, tap Create a Segment. Drop a start gate and a finish gate on the road, trace the line between them, give it a name and send it in.
-
A person checks it
Someone on our team looks at every road before it goes on everyone's map. A person, not a filter.
-
It goes live with your name
Approved roads show on the map and in Segments with your name on them, and every rider who rides it sees who found it.
02 What we check
Six things before it goes on the map.
Most roads that come in get approved. These are the things we look at.
-
It's a real public road
Somewhere you'd send a friend on a Sunday. No parking lots, private land or closed courses.
-
The gates sit on the road
Start and finish belong on the pavement the road actually runs on, so every ride through it gets timed the same way.
-
There's room to time it
Start and finish can't sit on top of each other. A road needs enough length to mean something.
-
It's not already in
If another rider beat you to it, ride theirs and rate it. Duplicates don't make it through.
-
It's worth it for the ride
Canyons, coast roads, the long way to coffee. Not freeways, and not stretches that only make sense at race pace.
-
The name is clean
Call it what locals call it, or name it yourself. Just keep it something you'd say in front of the crew.
03 You hear back
Approved or not, you'll know why.
The moment your road goes live, you get a notification that takes you straight to it. If it doesn't make it, the notification carries a note from us saying what to fix, so you can send it again.
- Every road is checked by hand, usually within a few days.
- A turned-down road isn't the end of it. Fix it and send it again.
- Adding roads is free.
-
Rippin'nowYour segment "Your favorite road" is liveRiders can find it on the map and in Segments, with your name on it.
-
Rippin'nowYour segment "Back way to the lake" wasn't approvedNote from Rippin': The start gate is in a parking lot. Move it onto the road and send it again.
Examples. The note is whatever the reviewer writes for your road.
04 Riders keep it honest
The stars come from riders who've been there.
Once a road is live, the riders who ride it shape what everyone else sees.
- Only riders who've ridden a road can rate it. No drive-by stars.
- Likes and comments tell the next rider what to expect: gravel, traffic, the best stop halfway.
- Leaderboard times come from the GPS track of a real ride. Nobody types in a time.
- Something wrong with a road? Open it and tap Report, and we'll take a look.
Not a race. Segments are for personal challenge. Ride your limits, obey the law, and save the pace for track days.
05 The rest of the map
It's not just the roads.
Almost everything you see in Rippin' comes from riders. We keep it clean.
-
Turf
Every shape on the Turf Wars map was claimed by a rider riding a loop around it. Nobody hands it out.
-
Meets & bike nights
Any rider can post a meet. Organizers submit events for the official calendar, and we verify them.
-
Spots
Riders suggest the coffee stops, food and hangouts worth the ride. We check each one before it shows up.
-
Road alerts
Riders flag crashes, construction and bad pavement for the riders behind them. Alerts clear on their own.
-
Poker stops
Riders rate the stops they ride to, so the next rider knows which ones are worth the trip.
-
Photographers
Moto photographers apply to shoot riders on Rippin', and we review every application.
FAQ
Questions riders ask.
Who adds the roads in Rippin'?
Riders do. Every segment on the map was added by a rider and checked by a person on our team before it went live, and the rider's name stays on it.
How do I add a road?
Open Segments in the app and tap Create a Segment. Drop a start gate and a finish gate on the road, trace the line between them, give it a name and send it in. Adding roads is free.
How long does review take?
Every road is checked by hand, usually within a few days.
Will I know if my road is approved?
Yes. You get a notification the moment it's live. If it isn't approved, the notification carries a note from us saying why, so you can fix it and send it again.
Who can rate a road?
