How to use these

One page per state, built for planning a ride.

Each state page covers the regions worth riding, 8 to 12 classic roads with what to watch for, the riding season, the helmet and lane splitting rules, the rallies worth planning around, and riding tips that only make sense in that state.

Every page also pulls from the Rippin' map: upcoming bike nights, meets, rallies and charity rides, and the roads riders have added and our team has checked. Most states are early, so if yours looks empty, that's your chance to claim the turf first. See what's free in Rippin' and every feature.

FAQ

Questions riders ask.

Which state has the best motorcycle roads?

It depends on what you like to ride. Mountain states like Colorado, Utah and North Carolina have the famous passes and twisties, the West Coast has the coast highways, and the Midwest and Plains hide great river and bluff roads. Each state page lists its classics.

Is lane splitting legal in any state?

California allows lane splitting. Utah, Montana, Arizona and Colorado allow lane filtering past stopped traffic under conditions, and Minnesota legalized lane splitting and filtering in 2025. Laws change, so check the state statute before you ride.

Which states have no motorcycle helmet law?

As of 2026, Illinois, Iowa and New Hampshire have no helmet law. Most states require helmets for some riders, and several require them for everyone. Each state page says which, with a link to check.
