Turf Wars motorcycle game: ride a loop, own the land inside
The Turf Wars motorcycle game inside Rippin' is simple. Ride a loop that closes back on itself and the land inside becomes your turf on the live map, with your name on it. Other riders can carve it with a tighter loop, so you spend points to lock your best ground. It's free on iPhone and Android.

How it works
How the Turf Wars motorcycle game works
- 1
Record a ride
Tap Record Ride and go. A canyon run, a coffee lap, a weekend tour. Any ride counts.
- 2
Close the loop
Come back around so your route closes on itself. Out and back on the same road doesn't enclose anything, so take a different way home.
- 3
Claim the land inside
The ground inside the loop fills in as your turf, with your name on it.
- 4
See it on the map
Your turf shows on the in-app map and on the live web map at live.rippin.app for every rider to see, and to try to take. More on that in the live map.
Taking ground
Carving: how turf changes hands
Turf isn't permanent. If another rider owns a chunk of map, ride a tighter loop through it and you carve that piece out for yourself. They can do the same to you.
Empty land is free to claim, so the open map rewards riders who explore. Contested ground is where it gets interesting: the shop district, the canyon everyone rides, the loop around the lake. Holding ground
Locks: keep your best ground
Spend points to lock a piece of turf and it can't be touched. Locks are how you keep the patch around your favorite road or the block your crew meets at.
Points come from riding: miles, segments, turf and poker hands all pay. Rippin' Plus takes 25% off every lock and pays 1.5x points, so members lock more ground for the same riding. More on that in points and rewards.
Crew
Squad turf counts for the whole crew
Turf you claim with your squad counts for the crew, and squads get their own leaderboards for miles, turf and rep. A crew that rides together can paint a whole region in its name. Start one in squads.
In practice
What a turf weekend looks like
Saturday morning you ride your usual loop: up the coast, inland on a back road, home through town. It closes, and a big shape fills in with your name. Sunday you check the map and see a rider from across town has carved a corner of it with a tighter loop through the hills.
You've got options. Ride your own tighter loop to take that corner back. Lock the part that matters to you, the stretch around your favorite canyon, so it can't be touched. Or bring the squad, ride it together, and claim fresh ground on the other side of the county. Either way you're riding roads you might have skipped.

Tips
Turf Wars tips from riders
- Turf rewards route choice, not speed. Plan a loop, ride it at your pace, and obey the limits.
- Build a loop on purpose with the loop builder so you know it closes before you leave.
- Lock the ground you care about, not the biggest shape. A small lock around your local road is worth more to you than a huge one nobody rides near.
- Check the map before a ride to see whose turf you'll cross.
- Combine it with poker stops and segments. One loop can claim turf, deal a card and put you on a board.
FAQ
Questions riders ask.
How do I claim turf in Rippin'?
Record a ride that closes back on itself. The land inside the loop becomes your turf on the live map.
Does an out-and-back ride claim turf?
Not by itself. A route that goes out and comes back on the same road doesn't enclose any land. Take a different road home to close the loop.
Can someone take my turf?
Yes, by riding a tighter loop through it, which carves that piece out. Lock your best ground with points and it can't be touched.
Does Turf Wars cost money?
No. Claiming and carving are free and unlimited. Locks cost points you earn by riding, and Plus gets 25% off locks.
Is Turf Wars about riding fast?
No. Turf comes from the shape of your route, not your speed. Rippin' never rewards speed on public roads.
Can my squad share turf?
Yes. Turf claimed with your squad counts for the crew and shows up on squad leaderboards.
