What it is

What's on the live motorcycle map

Who it's for

Why a live map on the web helps

The app is where you ride. The web map is where you look. It's useful on a laptop the night before a ride, on a big screen at the shop, or for showing a friend what Rippin' is before they download anything.

It's also the easiest way to explain Turf Wars. Tell someone that riders claim land by riding loops and they nod. Show them a map covered in shapes with rider names on them and they get it in a second.

How it works

How to use the live map

  1. 1

    Open live.rippin.app

Any browser on a phone, tablet or computer.

  2. 2

    Find your area

Move the map to where you ride and zoom in.

  3. 3

    Look around

See who owns the turf, where the poker stops are, and who's out riding right now.

  4. 4

    Ride it in the app

When you're ready to claim turf or collect cards, record the ride in Rippin' on your phone.

On a real ride

Planning Saturday from the couch

It's Friday night. You open the live map on your laptop and look at your area. A rider from another squad has claimed a big piece of the hills you ride every weekend. There are two poker stops you haven't been to on the far side of it.

So Saturday's plan writes itself: ride out to both stops for cards, then ride a tighter loop through that turf to carve your piece back. You build the loop in the app with the loop builder, send it to your squad, and go.

Privacy

Who shows up as riding right now

Live location in Rippin' is only shared when a rider starts a group ride or broadcasts. So the riders out now on the map are riders who chose to be seen. Recording a ride on your own doesn't put you there. Riders can also set a home safe zone so the part of their rides near home stays hidden from other riders.

Free vs Plus

Free to look, free to play

The web map is free to look at. Playing the game, meaning claiming turf, collecting poker cards and getting timed on segments, happens in the app and is free and unlimited too. Rippin' Plus ($4.99/mo) pays 1.5x points on every ride and gives 25% off turf locks, handy when you want to protect what you see on the map.

How it connects

The live map and the app

The live map shows the same game you play in the app. The shapes come from Turf Wars, the stops come from poker runs, and in the app the Explore map adds segments, meets, popular spots and local tips on top. Own a shop or cafe? You can become a poker stop and show up on the map for riders.
