You found the van
This van runs Rippin'.
No office. No investors. No grid. Rippin' is built, shipped and run out of this van on solar power, and it's built to do what no riding app has done: pay riders back. The only thing plugged into a wall is the server.

Meet the founder
Hey, I'm Reece.
Encinitas kid. SDSU. A background in sales and marketing, game design and code. Rippin' is all of it aimed at the thing I love most: riding.
I'm building it from this van, one city at a time, riding the roads I ask you to ride and meeting the crews who ride them. If you see the van, come say what's up.
The goal
The first riding app that pays its riders back.
Every other app takes. You ride, they sell your data, and the money leaves the community. Rippin' flips it. Membership money doesn't go to investors or data brokers. It goes back to the people riding: gear drops, giveaways and rewards you earn just by riding.
- Memberships fund the rewards
- The gear goes to riders
- No investors to pay
- Your data is never for sale
The goal: every dollar riders put in comes back out to riders.
Off the grid
One van. Solar panels. The whole app.
There's no office and no team of fifty. Every feature, every fix and every gear drop ships from wherever the van is parked that week.
Powered by the sun
Folding solar panels charge the van, the laptop and the phones. That's where every update comes from.
Built on the road
New features get tested on real rides in whatever city the van rolls into, with the riders who live there.
Only the server is plugged in
The app's servers live in a data center. Everything else runs off the van.
Where the van is
Austin, then Knoxville.
- Home baseSan Diego, CA
- SeptemberAustin, TX
- Right nowKnoxville, TN
The van left San Diego in early September and spent two weeks in Austin: bike nights, coffee mornings, the first turf claimed in Texas, and a new set of Austin poker stops picked by local riders.
Then it was two days and about a thousand miles east to Knoxville, Tennessee, the doorstep of the Smokies. That's home for now. The whole drive from San Diego, about 2,100 miles, is recorded in Rippin'.
If you're riding near Knoxville, come say hi at a bike night. Follow @rippin.app to see where the van goes next.
