What locals would tell you.
- Check closures before every ride. Snow, fire and storm damage close high roads. Check az511.com.
- Watch for elk and deer. Especially at dawn and dusk on the Rim and around Flagstaff.
- Altitude changes everything. Flagstaff sits around 7,000 feet. Expect cold mornings even in summer, and layer up.
- Sedona traffic is heavy. Ride Oak Creek Canyon early, and expect roundabouts and sightseers in town.
