Hawaii events

Hawaii motorcycle events, bike nights and group rides

Hawaii motorcycle events are local. There's no mainland-size rally on the islands. Instead, each island has bike nights, club rides, charity runs and holiday toy runs, with Oahu the busiest, and the Distinguished Gentleman's Ride comes around every May. Below is the live list from the Rippin' events map, then the recurring rides, how to find a bike night and how to post your own.

Upcoming Hawaii motorcycle events in Rippin'

The list below comes straight from the Rippin' events map: bike nights, meets, charity rides, toy runs and rallies that riders, clubs and shops have posted. It updates as new events go up. Dates come from the organizers and can change, so confirm before you ride out.

Hawaii's events map is thin today. Rippin' started in Southern California, and the islands are early. If the list is short, that's an opening: a bike night you post is one every rider on your island can see. For the bigger picture on riding here, see the Hawaii state guide.

Recurring motorcycle events in Hawaii

These come around most years. We don't list exact dates because they move year to year, so check the organizer before you plan.

The scene

Hawaii's riding scene, island by island

Oahu has the most riders and the most events, from weeknight meets around Honolulu to weekend rides out to the North Shore or around the windward coast. Expect a parking-lot meet and a ride, not a stage show.

Maui group rides tend to be the classics: an early start on the Road to Hana, or the climb up Haleakala and back down through Kula. Plan around the visitor traffic and the cold at the top.

The Big Island is big enough for real day rides. Groups cross Saddle Road between Hilo and Kona and loop the Kohala Mountain Road, often with a stop in Waimea.

Kauai has the fewest riders of the four and fewer posted events, so a meet you put on the map stands out. The canyon roads on the west side and the north shore make an easy group day. The roads themselves are in the best motorcycle roads in Hawaii.

Every week

Find a Hawaii bike night, or post your own

Big events are rare on the islands. Bike nights are every week, and they're how you find people to ride with. Rippin' puts them on the same map as turf, segments and poker stops.

Shops and clubs that host a lot can use Organizer Pro ($8.99/mo) for unlimited and recurring meets, official events on the calendar and recurring ride plans. A shop or cafe can also become a poker stop, so every rider who rolls in gets a card. More on motorcycle events in Rippin'.

Road closures

Big events that change Hawaii's roads

These aren't motorcycle events, but they close roads or fill towns. Dates change year to year, so check the organizer.

Before you go

Before you ride to a Hawaii event

Weather matters more than the calendar here. See when to ride in Hawaii for the wet and dry seasons on each side of the islands.

Seasons

Hawaii's motorcycle calendar, by season

Winter (December to February): Toy runs wrap up in December. It's the wetter season and the busiest for visitors, so group rides start early and stick to the drier side when it rains.

Spring (March to May): The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride lands in May. Drier weather returns, and April and May are some of the best riding weeks of the year.

Summer (June to August): Dry, warm and busy with visitors. A good time for long island loops, early starts on the Road to Hana and memorial and charity rides.

Fall (September to November): Quieter roads after summer, then toy-run season starts in November. Watch for race-day closures in Kona and the first winter swells on the North Shore.
