Florida motorcycle events, rallies and bike nights

Florida motorcycle events revolve around two Daytona weekends: Bike Week every March and Biketoberfest every October. Around them, Thunder Beach fills Panama City Beach in spring and fall, Leesburg holds its Bikefest in April, and charity rides, toy runs and weekly bike nights fill the rest of the year. Dates change year to year, so check the organizer, and find local meets in the free Rippin' app.

The big two

Daytona Bike Week and Biketoberfest

Daytona Bike Week is the biggest date on the Florida calendar and one of the best-known rallies in the world. It runs for about ten days in early March and traces its roots to the first Daytona 200 race in 1937. Main Street and Beach Street in Daytona Beach are the center of it, with vendors, music and bikes parked everywhere. Destination Daytona, the dealership and vendor complex on US 1 in Ormond Beach, and Daytona International Speedway are the other anchors.

Biketoberfest brings the crowd back to Daytona Beach for a long weekend every October. It's smaller and more relaxed than Bike Week, and the weather is usually kinder for the rides around it: the Ormond Scenic Loop, A1A and SR 40 into the Ocala forest. Both events change dates year to year, so check the organizers, and book rooms months ahead. For the rest of the state's riding, see the Florida motorcycle rides hub.

Races to watch

Motorcycle racing in Florida

Bike Week isn't just a party. The Daytona 200, the race that started it all, runs at Daytona International Speedway during Bike Week, and Daytona Supercross takes over the speedway's infield on a stadium-style dirt track the same week. Check the speedway for this year's schedule and tickets.

Watch the racing at the track and keep it there. Rippin' never rewards speed on public roads, and Daytona's rally-week roads are crowded, patrolled and full of riders from out of state.
