Indiana motorcycle events, races and bike nights
Indiana motorcycle events lean on racing and fall riding: AMA Supercross at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, the Ironman motocross national near Crawfordsville in late summer, the Distinguished Gentleman's Ride in May, and October rides to Brown County and the Parke County Covered Bridge Festival. Between those, the calendar is bike nights, charity rides and poker runs. Here's what comes around every year and how to find what's on near you.

Big recurring motorcycle events in Indiana
These come around most years. Dates change year to year, so check the organizer before you plan.
- AMA Supercross in IndianapolisLucas Oil Stadium has hosted a round of AMA Supercross in most recent seasons, usually in winter or spring. A stadium race to watch, not a ride. Check the Supercross schedule for this year's date.
- Ironman NationalIronman Raceway near Crawfordsville has hosted the final round of AMA Pro Motocross in recent seasons, usually in late August. Outdoor motocross on a hilly natural-terrain track.
- Parke County Covered Bridge FestivalA huge October festival around Rockville and the county's covered bridges. Great scenery, but expect heavy traffic and slow roads during the festival.
- Distinguished Gentleman's RideEvery May, riders dress sharp on classic and vintage-style bikes and ride for men's health. Indianapolis and other Indiana cities usually host rides. Register on the DGR site.
- Toy runs and charity ridesClubs, rider groups and dealers run charity poker runs through the season and toy runs in late fall. Most are posted locally, so check the events map.

Races to watch
Racing in Indiana
Indiana is a racing state, and bikes have their place in it. Supercross comes to Lucas Oil Stadium most seasons, and Ironman Raceway hosts outdoor pro motocross. Indianapolis Motor Speedway hosted MotoGP from 2008 to 2015, though the series no longer races there.
The Indy 500 is a car race, but it shapes the riding calendar: the west side of Indianapolis fills with traffic around Memorial Day weekend. If you want to ride fast, do it at a track day, not on IN 135.

Post your Indiana motorcycle event
Indiana's events map is still filling in, so a bike night you post gets seen. Any rider can post one for free, and the Indiana overview shows how the rest of Rippin' works across the state.
Shops and clubs that host a lot of events can use Organizer Pro ($8.99/mo) for unlimited and recurring meets, official events and recurring ride plans. A shop or cafe can also become a poker stop, so every rider who shows up gets dealt a card.

Fall (September to October): The best riding of the year. Brown County color rides and the Covered Bridge Festival in October.
Winter (November to February): Toy runs while the weather holds, then indoor events. See the best time to ride in Indiana for the full season picture.
