Segments and leaderboards
Motorcycle road leaderboards for the roads riders love
Rippin' has motorcycle road leaderboards built on segments: stretches of road a rider added and a person on the Rippin' team checked before they went live. Ride through one with Rippin' recording and you land on its board automatically, with a crown for the rider who owns the road. It's not a race, and it's free on iPhone and Android.

Segments
What a segment is
A segment is a stretch of road a rider loved enough to add: a canyon, a coastal run, a twisty back road. Before it goes on everyone's map, a person on the Rippin' team checks it. The rider who found it keeps their name on it, and only riders who've actually ridden it can rate it.
You can browse them on the Explore map in the app or on the web at live.rippin.app/segments.
How it works
How you get on a board
- 1
Record your ride
Tap Record Ride like any other day.
- 2
Ride through the segment
No button to press. Rippin' times you automatically when you pass the start and finish.
- 3
Land on the board
After the ride, you're on that segment's board. A crown goes to the rider who owns the road.
- 4
Rate the road
Rate it for the next rider. Rating roads you've ridden pays points.

Tips
What makes a good segment
- A road riders actually seek out: twisties, a scenic coastal run, a climb with a view.
- A clear start and finish, like a junction, a turnout or a town line.
- Long enough to be worth riding, short enough to stay on one road.
- Not through a school zone, a busy town center or anywhere you'd be asking riders to push their luck.
- Named so a rider knows where it is from the name alone.
Ride it right
This isn't racing
Segments are public roads with traffic, driveways, gravel and wildlife. Rippin' does not reward speed on public roads, and nothing about a board is worth a ticket or a crash. Ride the speed limit, ride your own pace, and think of a segment as a road worth riding that a local vouched for. The board is a record of who rides it, and the crown is about who owns the road.
In practice
Discovering a road through segments
You're visiting a friend two hours from home. The night before, you open the map and see a segment through the hills nearby, added by a local rider, with good ratings from riders who've ridden it. You've never heard of the road.
The next morning you plan a loop through it and ride it at an easy pace with your friend. Rippin' times you both without either of you touching a phone. Afterward you rate it, see your names on its board, and follow the local who added it. Next trip, you ride it again.
