A motorcycle app widget for your turf, your level and your ride

Rippin' puts a motorcycle app widget on your home screen with your turf and your level, on iPhone and Android. On iPhone, a Live Activity sits on the lock screen while you record, so you can see the ride is running without opening the app. Both are free.

The problem

Is it still recording?

Every rider who has used a ride tracker knows the feeling. You stop for gas two hours in and wonder if the app is still running. You pull off your glove, unlock the phone, open the app, and check. Do that four times a day and it gets old.

Rippin' is built so you tap Record and forget about it. The Live Activity and the widgets are the other half of that idea. They put what you'd open the app to check right where you already look.

What you get

Three ways to see Rippin' without opening it

How it works

How to add a motorcycle app widget

  1. 1

    Install Rippin'

Download it free and sign in. Widgets need the app installed.

  2. 2

    Open the widget picker

Touch and hold an empty spot on your home screen, then open the widgets list. On iPhone that's the Edit or plus button; on Android it's Widgets.

  3. 3

    Pick a Rippin' widget

Find Rippin' in the list and choose the turf or level widget.

  4. 4

    Record a ride

On iPhone, tap Record Ride and the Live Activity shows up on your lock screen while you record.

Exact menu names change between phone models and OS versions. If you can't find the widgets list, search your phone's help for adding widgets.

On a real ride

A gas stop on a long day

You're three hours into a day ride and pull into a gas station. You wake your phone, see the Live Activity on the lock screen, and know the ride is still recording. Fill up, back on the bike.

That night you glance at your home screen and see your turf widget. The loop you rode this morning is there. Your level widget is right next to it, a decent reason to take the long way to work tomorrow.

Free vs Plus

Widgets are free

Home-screen widgets and the iPhone Live Activity are free for every rider. Rippin' Plus ($4.99/mo) adds auto-recording, which pairs well with the Live Activity if you ride often and forget to tap Record. Plus also pays 1.5x points on every ride.

How it connects

What the widgets point back to

The turf widget reflects the ground you've claimed in Turf Wars. The level widget follows your rider level and XP. The Live Activity runs while the ride tracker records, and when you tap Stop you get your Ride Wrapped recap. Platform details are on the iPhone app and Android app pages.
