Every good weekend
The mountain riding weekends
From spring through fall, the western mountains are their own rally. Deals Gap on the Tennessee line fills with riders from all over the country. Maggie Valley is a classic overnight, and the Wheels Through Time museum there, packed with rare American motorcycles that still run, is worth an afternoon. Blowing Rock, Little Switzerland and the small towns along the parkway are the stops on the northern loops.
October is the busiest month, with Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends close behind. Book rooms early, ride the famous roads early in the day, and remember that some towns and businesses are still rebuilding after Hurricane Helene, so call ahead. Big rallies within reach of North Carolina
These come around every year. We don't list exact dates because they change year to year, so check each organizer before you plan.
- Myrtle Beach Spring RallyA long-running May rally on South Carolina's Grand Strand, a few hours from Charlotte or Raleigh. Venues and local rules have shifted over the years, so check the organizer and local announcements.
- Atlantic Beach BikefestHeld over Memorial Day weekend in Atlantic Beach and the Myrtle Beach area, with huge crowds. Expect special traffic patterns and plan lodging well ahead.
- Daytona Bike Week and BiketoberfestThe big Florida pair in Daytona Beach: Bike Week in March and Biketoberfest in October. A long ride south, and plenty of North Carolina riders make it every year.
- Barber Vintage FestivalA big vintage motorcycle weekend at Barber Motorsports Park near Birmingham, Alabama, usually in October, with racing, a huge swap meet and the Barber museum.
- The Distinguished Gentleman's RideEvery May, riders dress sharp on classic and vintage-style bikes to raise money for men's health. North Carolina cities usually host rides; register on the DGR site for the date and route.
Races to watch
Racing in and near North Carolina
Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord hosts NASCAR's Coca-Cola 600 on Memorial Day weekend every year, plus a fall race weekend. It's car racing, but race weeks fill hotels and roads across the Charlotte area, so plan around them or ride in for the show.
zMAX Dragway, next to the speedway, hosts NHRA drag racing weekends. Check the schedule for the current year.
Virginia International Raceway, just over the Virginia line near Danville, runs motorcycle track days and club racing. If you want to ride fast, a track day is the place for it, not the parkway.
Give back
Charity rides, poker runs and toy runs
Charity rides fill the North Carolina calendar: memorial rides, poker runs for local causes, rides for veterans and first responders, and holiday toy runs in November and December. Most are posted by clubs, dealers and chapters a few weeks out, so check the events map as the season goes.
A charity poker run works a lot like poker runs in Rippin': ride to stops, collect cards, best hand wins. In Rippin', each stop deals one card when you arrive, no QR codes, and your best five-card hand posts to the poker leaderboard.

How to find bike nights in North Carolina
Rallies are once a year. Bike nights are every week, and they're how you find riders to ride with.
North Carolina bike nights run most of the year in the Piedmont and on the coast, and mostly spring through fall in the mountains. If your regular night isn't on the map, post it.

Post your North Carolina motorcycle event
Any rider can post a meet or event for free: name, time, place and a short note on what to expect. A weekly bike night or a monthly breakfast ride can repeat, so you post it once and the next date always shows. Share it to your squad and the feed, and riders RSVP from the app.
Shops, clubs and brands that host a lot can use Organizer Pro ($8.99/mo) for unlimited and recurring meets and official events on the calendar. A mountain shop or cafe that hosts riders can also become a poker stop, so every rider who stops gets a card. More on motorcycle events in Rippin'.
