The big one
AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days at Mid-Ohio
AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days is Ohio's signature motorcycle event. It's held at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course near Lexington, usually in July, and it draws riders and collectors from all over the country. Expect vintage racing across several disciplines, one of the biggest motorcycle swap meets around, bike shows and a whole field of camping riders.
It's a great reason to ride. Mid-Ohio sits in north central Ohio, close to the Mohican country and OH 97, so you can build a weekend around it. Dates and schedules change year to year, so check the American Motorcyclist Association before you plan.
Destination
The Motorcycle Hall of Fame Museum in Pickerington
The AMA's headquarters is in Pickerington, just east of Columbus, and it's home to the Motorcycle Hall of Fame Museum, with exhibits on the people and machines that shaped American motorcycling. Exhibits change over time, so check the museum's hours and what's on before you go.
It makes an easy destination ride from Columbus, and it pairs well with a run down to the Hocking Hills, about an hour south. Our guide to the best motorcycle roads in Ohio has the loops.

The calendar
Ohio's motorcycle calendar, season by season

Summer (June to August): Weekly bike nights across the state, charity poker runs most weekends, and Vintage Motorcycle Days at Mid-Ohio, usually in July.
Fall (September and October): The best riding weather of the year, with fall color runs in the southeast hills and charity rides.
Late fall and winter: Toy runs collect gifts for kids before the holidays, then the calendar goes quiet until spring. For the weather behind it all, see the best time to ride in Ohio.

Charity poker runs and toy runs in Ohio
Charity rides are a big part of Ohio's riding calendar. Clubs, posts and shops run poker runs, where riders pick up a card at each stop and the best hand wins, with entry fees going to a cause. If you've never done one, read what a motorcycle poker run is.
Toy runs close out the year, usually in November and December, when riders bring a new toy and ride together to drop them off. Most charity rides are posted only a few weeks ahead, so watch the events map and ask at your shop.
