Every year
Big recurring motorcycle events in Utah
These come around most years. We don't list exact dates because they move year to year, so check the organizer before you plan.
- Speed Week at the Bonneville Salt FlatsLand speed racing on a closed course on the salt near Wendover, usually in August, with motorcycle classes alongside cars. It depends on the salt: some years it's canceled when the course is too wet. Check the organizer before you ride out.
- Other meets on the saltIn good years, more land speed events, including motorcycle meets, run on the salt in late summer and early fall. They share Speed Week's weather risk, so check each organizer.
- AMA Supercross in Salt Lake CitySupercross has raced at Rice-Eccles Stadium in Salt Lake City in recent seasons, near the end of the spring schedule. A stadium race to watch, not a ride. Check the series schedule for this year.
- The Distinguished Gentleman's RideEvery May, riders dress sharp on classic and vintage-style bikes and ride to raise money for men's health. Look on the DGR site for a Utah ride and the route.
- Holiday toy runsClubs and shops along the Wasatch Front and in St. George run toy drives and toy runs in November and December most years. Check the events map as the holidays get close.
Bonneville
Riding out to the Bonneville Salt Flats
The salt flats sit west of Salt Lake City off I-80 near Wendover, with a signed exit for the Bonneville Speedway and a public area at the edge of the salt. Even outside race week, it's a famous ride: flat white salt to the horizon and mountains floating in the heat.
Two warnings. Salt is hard on a bike, so wash it well afterward, underneath too. And when the salt is wet, stay off it: it can be soft under a dry-looking crust. During events, follow the organizer's rules on where spectators can ride and park.
Bonneville is where speed belongs. If you want to go fast, the salt or a track day is the place. Utah Motorsports Campus in Tooele County hosts track days. On the street, ride with margin.
Every week
Find a Utah bike night, or post your own
Big events are a few weekends a year. Bike nights are every week, and they're how you find riders to ride with. Rippin' puts them on the same map as turf, segments and poker stops.
Shops, clubs and brands that host a lot can use Organizer Pro ($8.99/mo) for unlimited and recurring meets, official events on the calendar and recurring ride plans. A shop or cafe that hosts a bike night can also become a poker stop. More on motorcycle events in Rippin'.

Crowds
Busy weekends to plan around
These aren't motorcycle events, but they fill roads and towns. Dates change, so check before you go.
- Moab in spring: spring break and the Easter Jeep Safari week fill hotels and trailheads around Moab.
- National park peak season: Zion, Arches and Bryce are busiest from spring through fall, with shuttles and timed entry at some parks.
- Bear Lake in summer: Garden City and the Logan Canyon road get heavy lake traffic on summer weekends.
- Fall color weekends: the Alpine Loop and Nebo Loop get crowded at peak color in late September.
Before you go
Before you ride to a Utah event
Riding with a crew? Squads keep chat, plans and turf in one place. Timing matters too: see the best time to ride in Utah.
- Confirm the date and entry with the organizer the week before. Salt events in particular can change late.
- Plan fuel. Routes across the west desert and the southeast have long gaps between stations.
- Check the road and weather on UDOT Traffic and in the app the morning you leave.
- Carry water. The west desert is hot and dry in August.
- Ride home in daylight. Deer and open-range cattle are hardest to see at dusk.
- Share a ride plan with your squad so everyone knows the departure time, route and stops.
Seasons

Spring (March to May): Riding season opens in St. George and Moab, Supercross has come to Salt Lake City near the end of its schedule, and the Distinguished Gentleman's Ride lands in May.
Summer (June to August): Bike nights along the Wasatch Front, mountain rides as the passes open, and Speed Week on the salt, usually in August.
Fall (September to November): The best riding weather in the south, color rides in the Wasatch, and the last land speed meets of the year in good years.
Winter (December to February): Toy runs in December, then a quiet stretch. St. George keeps riding on sunny days while the north waits for spring.
