Michigan events

Michigan motorcycle events, rallies and bike nights

Michigan motorcycle events run from May to October: the Distinguished Gentleman's Ride in May, the RedBud motocross national near Buchanan around the Fourth of July, the Woodward Dream Cruise in August, then fall color runs up north. Michigan doesn't host one of the giant national rallies, so the calendar is built on bike nights, charity rides and big trips north. Here's what comes around every year and how to find what's on near you.

Big events are once a year. Bike nights are every week from late spring to early fall, and they're how you find people to ride with.

Michigan bike nights follow the weather. Most run from May into September, and the last ones of the year often turn into fall color rides on the weekend.

Races to watch

Racing and track days near Michigan

RedBud is the big one, with pro motocross near Buchanan in early summer. Grattan Raceway near Belding is a road course that hosts motorcycle track days and club races, which is the right place to ride fast. Check the track's calendar.

Detroit's Ford Field has hosted AMA Supercross rounds in recent seasons; check the Supercross schedule to see if Detroit is on it this year. And southeast Michigan riders are a reasonable ride from AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days at Mid-Ohio in Lexington, Ohio, usually in July. See the Ohio overview for more riding there.

Post your Michigan motorcycle event

Michigan's events map is still filling in, so a bike night you post gets seen. Any rider can post one for free, and the Michigan overview shows how the rest of Rippin' works across the state.

Shops, clubs and brands that host a lot of events can use Organizer Pro ($8.99/mo) for unlimited and recurring meets, official events on the calendar and recurring ride plans. A shop that hosts a bike night can also become a poker stop, so every rider who shows up gets dealt a card.

Seasons

Michigan's motorcycle event calendar, by season

Spring (April to May): Season openers, blessings of the bikes and the Distinguished Gentleman's Ride. Roads are still sandy and cold, so these are often short rides.

Summer (June to August): Peak season. Weekly bike nights, RedBud, the Woodward Dream Cruise, and trips to the UP.

Fall (September to October): Color runs north, charity rides and the last bike nights. On Labor Day morning the Mackinac Bridge closes to traffic for the Bridge Walk, so plan your crossing around it.

Winter (November to March): Toy runs while the weather holds, then indoor shows and planning. Our guide to the best time to ride in Michigan has the full season picture.
